Review
Sara doesn't realize that her Uncle Lowell is playing matchmaker for her until she arrives at his cabin in Washington for an unexpected visit and discovers that he's missing. A neighbor informs Sara that Lowell has "gone hunting," which Sara knows is a lie since her uncle avoids any kind of blood sport. When Sara turns to Adrian Saville, the man her uncle told Sara to contact if he ever disappears, Sara finds Adrian remarkably sanguine about the whole matter. Adrian then really shocks Sara by informing her that Lowell intends on "giving" Sara to him as a reward for finishing his first novel. Well, if Adrian thinks she is some literary prize for the taking, Sara has a completely different ending in mind for this new author. Originally published in 1985, The Waiting Game is graced with a cast of delightfully entertaining characters and Krentz's deliciously tart sense of humor. -- Booklist, Septmeber 15, 2011

I can understand WHY it was made into a movie for TV!
By A Customer
This one was made into an original Harlequin movie on The Movie Channel!
Sara Fraser goes for visit to her uncle Lowell Kincaid. However, he seems to be missing. Knowing his secretive background she begins to worry. Her uncle once told her that if anything ever happened to him she was to go to Adrian Saville.
Adrian just sold his first thriller novel. It is all about gold and documents hidden during the Vietnam War and the agent sent to fetch them at all costs. Lowell had given him the idea during one of his wild stories. He knows Lowell well and is not concerned when Sara shows up telling him that Lowell is missing. Even after they visit Lowell's cabin and find it tore apart, Adrian is not too concerned. Uncle Lowell had left a message on his answering machine for them to find and instructed Adrian to look after Sara. She has a vivid imagination.
Sara deals with it all well until she finds out Uncle Lowell "gave" her to Adrian as a "present" for finishing his novel! Then she finds the sketch of a wolf and knows that Lowell is REALLY in deep trouble. Seems that the renegade agent, code-named "Wolf" was in the area. Lowell had told her a few things about this agent. A real loose cannon! The fact is hit home when someone begins trying to kidnap Sara.
***All this is just the beginning. It sets you up for a roller coaster ride of secrets and outrageous surprises! Many twists that only the most observant readers will figure out before they are revealed. I can see why it was made into a movie for television!***

READER BEWARE! New cover disguises reissue!
By Bluesheltie
I believe this title was originally published as a part of the Temptation line.
I've been reading Jayne Ann Krentz since she published as Jayne Castle for Candlelight Romances many years ago. She then moved over to Silhouette books and published there as Stephanie James (Desire, Special Edition) and Jayne Ann Krentz (Intimate Moments). Obviously I like how and what she writes. Jayne is has become a very popular and well developed author and her titles are snapped up as soon as they hit the bookstores. Therefore, greedy publishers wanting to get more dollars from avid readers, REISSUE early titles. It doesn't matter that the older works were not as sophisticated as new writings(some are extremely formuladic, some are very good and memorable), all the publishers care about are the dollars.
Through sad experience I've learned to ALWAYS check the copyright date before buying books by popular authors such as Krentz, Roberts, Coulter, Johanson, Spencer, etc. I feel that it is a scam by the publishers on the reading public to not state somewhere on the cover that the book was previously published. And, some publishers looking for greater dollars are reissuing works originally marketed as paperbacks in hardcover, where they can get many dollars more.
